Why Tempered Tonewoods

Having built electric guitars and basses out of thermally modified wood over the last number of years it has become clear that there is a difference.

The instruments resonate louder, with faster attack transients, broader harmonic footprint that includes stronger fundamentals and richer harmonics, and a significantly longer natural sustain than comparable contemporary instruments.

The sound uncannily resembles that of some of the most highly valued “classic” instruments from Southern California.  It is as if we are using “old wood”.

The visuals are appealing, the sound is truly “huge” and  “dead spots” are minimized, even in basses with very highly figured necks.
